About Us
Joe Fortune Review AU is an independent resource that reviews online casinos from an Australian player's point of view. We test sites with our own money, read the fine print so you do not have to, and write honestly about what we find - including the parts most affiliate sites skip over.
Our mission
The offshore casino market that accepts Australians is large, fast-moving and uneven. Some operators pay quickly and treat players fairly; others bury punishing terms in the fine print or drag out withdrawals. Australian players also sit in an unusual legal position, because the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 makes it illegal for operators to offer online casino games here, which means no local consumer protection and no recourse through BetStop. Our job is to make sense of it: to explain what a bonus is really worth, how fast a site actually pays, what licence it holds and what that licence does and does not protect. We would rather save you a bad signup than chase a commission.
Our story
Joe Fortune Review AU began in 2022, when reviewer Liam Hargrove grew tired of casino "reviews" that were clearly rewritten press releases, written by people who had never deposited a cent. He started documenting his own tests - real signups, real deposits, real withdrawal requests - and publishing the results with dates and screenshots. The site grew from a handful of write-ups into a structured resource with a defined testing process and a transparent scoring system (see How We Rate). Today it helps Australian players each month decide whether a given offshore casino is worth their time.
Our team
The site is led by Liam Hargrove, an online casino reviewer who has covered AU-facing sites since 2016 and personally tested more than 200 casinos. His focus areas are bonus fine print, licensing, payment speed and crypto handling. You can read his full background, expertise and testing approach on his profile page: About Liam Hargrove. Alongside Liam, we work with freelance specialists on specific areas such as payment methods, mobile play and live dealer studios, so that each review is checked by someone who knows that corner of the industry.
Our values
Honesty. We do not hide a casino's flaws to protect a commission. If a site scores poorly, we publish that review; if a bonus has ugly wagering, we say so plainly. Transparency. We openly disclose how we make money (Affiliate Disclosure), we name the author of every review, and we date every publication and update. Independence. No casino can buy a positive review; our Editorial Policy keeps commercial deals separate from editorial decisions. Responsibility. We promote safer-gambling tools and help resources on every relevant page (Responsible Gambling) and we never dress up gambling as a way to make money.
How we work
Each review follows the same six steps. First, research: we check the licence, the operator behind the brand and its complaint history. Second, hands-on testing: we create a real account, deposit real money, play, claim the bonus and request a payout - the full method is in How We Test. Third, scoring: we apply our weighted system across eight criteria. Fourth, writing: the person who tested the site writes the review, so it carries first-hand experience. Fifth, fact-checking: an editor verifies the licence, bonus terms and providers against the casino's own site and the regulator. Sixth, publishing and updating: we date the review and revisit it every three to six months, or sooner if something material changes.
